Has Your Pension Entitlement Been Correctly Calculated?

Many pension members accept administrator decisions without knowing whether those decisions accord with the applicable scheme rules or statutory requirements. A review is the appropriate first step.

Initial enquiries are handled with discretion. We will advise on whether and how we may assist before any engagement is formalised.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Enquiries

The review involves a careful examination of your contribution records, the relevant statutory provisions under the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 or applicable private scheme rules, and any correspondence you have had with your pension administrator. We produce a written opinion setting out our findings and recommending next steps. The review does not commit you to any further engagement with us.
Timeline depends considerably on the nature and complexity of the matter, the responsiveness of the administrator or employer, and whether proceedings before a tribunal or court become necessary. Straightforward correspondence matters may conclude within a few months. Cases requiring civil proceedings typically extend over a longer period. We will give you our best assessment of the likely timeline at the outset of engagement.
Yes. Our estate and survivor benefit work covers the full range of claims arising from the death of a pension scheme member — including spouse and dependent child claims, disputes where administrators have declined to pay out, and cases involving ambiguity in scheme documentation regarding dependency. We begin with an initial consultation to understand the specific situation before advising on the appropriate course.
It is helpful to bring any correspondence from your pension administrator, your EPF or scheme statements, your employment contract or relevant sections of it if available, and any previous legal advice you have received. You need not have everything organised — part of our initial consultation is to understand what documents exist and which are relevant to your matter.
For the Pension Entitlement Review, the fee is fixed at MYR 850. For dispute representation and survivor benefit matters, we provide an estimate at engagement which reflects our understanding of the scope at that point. We revisit and discuss fee estimates with clients if the scope changes materially. We do not proceed with significant additional work without first advising you of the likely cost.
Initial enquiries can be made by telephone or email, and we can arrange consultations in person at our Kuala Lumpur chambers or by video call where that is more convenient. Certain steps in proceedings will require in-person attendance or the signing of documents, and we will advise you when that is the case.
